Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

I love swimming naked at anchor, however, I have never been into naked sailing.

Not because of being prudish, but the simple hygiene aspects that cotton clothes provide a protective barrier.... when ass meets cushion or my face at close quarters.

Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

Not being too familiar with Sydney we decided to drop anchor next to a quiet looking anchorage off Cobblers Beach this fine evening.

We noticed the beach was naked as we were setting anchor, but didn't think too much about it. Now we find ourselves surrounded by naked sailors too.

I'm a little too embarrassed to go and sit out in the cockpit with my clothes on this afternoon (Scottish/Irish blood burns pink) but looking forward to a guilt free naked wash in the cockpit tomorrow morning!

When showering, I have a very specific order, I soap the washcloth and wash my face first, then my upper body, my legs and feet, and finally my ass. I rinse the washcloth for the next day. The next day, this ritual is repeated, first my face ......

Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

Someone once said that anyplace in the world that was once an English colony will be uncomfortable with nudity. Makes you go hmmm.
As to what the big deal is, (about ditching one's clothes) I've no idea. But that seems to be how things work for the most part. Sadly. Sadly, since it creates so many unnecessary problems in our society, including in people's heads. Something that likely won't be undone anytime soon.

Just love it when two year old threads get dredged up from the bottom of the harbor

Anyone besides me ever notice that facetious & feces are really close in spelling, & one means s**t, while the other means being full of s**t? Just an old observation of mine

Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

I have seen plenty people naked on the med. Not so much sailing but on anchorages....and many times very old men an women with not nice bodies at all. Also plenty nudists beaches on the med and some anchorages in front of those beaches too. To go ashore you have to cross the nudist camp.

On Croatia the locals don't give a dam about it but I have seen pissed Greeks with the situation.

Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

I know folks who sail naked, not just in the Med. But it's not like they do it all the time. And they mostly just do it when it's just the two of them on the boat together. I think it provides a sense of freedom.

Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

Ever notice when sailing naked, you can really feel the smallest wind shifts. Very important in smaller boats.

Re: Naked Sailing - Truth or Wishful Thinking ?

I've even encountered couples sailing naked on the Columbia. Your ship is your domain, do as you please. In the Med, I assume it would be about like the beaches. The ones you wish were naked are never the ones who are.
