My Tophat 25 Mk2

Gday peeps, newbie from oz, i just got my lil 25 foot TopHat Mk2, seen a thread a guy was asking about Tophats and Compass 28 as to whats better, ill tell ya, TopHats all the way they have circumnavigated, there bomb proof, little with a big heart and they will look after you, will hold the main in rough weather equally happy sticking along on the jib, there not qwik lucky to pull 5 knots run up the kite might get a bit more, great little boats, I got mine for free of an elderly owner that had had enough she been swinging on her mooring for three years, my goal is to restore her then sail her to Darwin in the Top End from her home in Sydney then were gonna toddle over to PNG and run around the islands, she will do it.

Welcome to the forum, newbie. It seems odd to call you Top Hat, do you have a preferred term of address? Looking forward to hearing about the restoration.

Re: My Tophat 25 Mk2

Hi, there,

A friend of ours and his wife sailed from Newcastle, Aus., in their Top Hat; we met them in Hilo, HI, the first time. They went on to Canada, and eventually returned to Oz, with a daughter. Other friends circumnavigated in one.

You're right, they are competent boats and have done quite a lot.

Ann

Small world Dale, I surveyed Hickory back in 2017. She is a nice yacht and I think she ended up in Brisbane.
Cheers

I sold her in 2009 or maybe early 2010 while in yeppoon. She was very neat at the time. She was my first keel boat, a Wharram before that.
