My maiden big trip

Just finished a solo 380 nm (704 km) trip up the southern coast of Queensland, Australia in my 'new' 1979 Top Hat 25. Every day brought its own swag of adventure and challenge. Especially since I am neither a competent or confident sailor of a keel boat. I am confident on water but in shallow draft smaller boats (and confident with navigation etc).

The trip was only a delivery one, I wanted to explore and stay places but had to hurry home. My fishing rod did not even get a use! Also plenty of work to be done on the boat but it was more than seaworthy enough to bring home.

Sailed/motored from:
Southport to Dunwich 34 nm
Dunwich to Scarborough 28 nm
Scarborough to Mooloolaba 39 nm
Mooloolaba to Double Island Point 51 nm
Double Island Point over Wide Bay Bar to Gary's Anchorage 27 nm
Gary's Anchorage to Urangan 40 nm
Urangan to Round Hill Creek at the town of 1770 51 nm
1770 to Gladstone 47 nm
Gladstone to Egg Island (mouth of Fitzroy River near Mud Island) 38 nm
Egg Island to Rockhampton 25 nm

Pic 1: Southport Marina among the 'real' boats.

Pic 2: Out at sea with no wind from the right quarter so using the motor.

Pic 3: Sunset, where is that anchorage?

Pic 5: Fitzroy River looking awesome on calm day. Pity it is full of tricky shallows. And crocs.
