Re: Music to Sail by . . .

The USA has given the world some wonderful music: Blues, most of the jazz legends, rock 'n' roll, R&B, soul, hip hop....but is it only Americans who actually "get" Jimmy Buffet? Most folk outside the US probably say "who?" but those who don't will generally say "why?!". I have eclectic tastes and am more willing than many to give inane crooning a chance but...nope...still don't get the appeal. Not even on a sunny afternoon on the boat with a margarita.

Am I wrong? Is the Baltic and Med actually replete with Parrotheads (other than on US flagged boats)?

So this is what its like to have a boat TOO FAST. Its supposed to be FUN, not perpetual survival mode.

Thanks for that Rolling Stones video.

I listened to it a couple of times. Probably will
listen again soon.

Just great.

Re: Music to Sail by . . .

I don't have any "go to" music when on the water. I mostly like classic rock or British invasion stuff like Beatles, Zombies, Animals, etc. Lately I've been listening to a playlist I assembled of old New Orleans R&B. Having grown up there, these tunes are local anthems. Ernie K Doe, Benny Spellman, Fats Domino, Prof Longhair, Lee Dorsey, etc. Great tunes for any occasion.

Please don't complain, I already know my taste in music is ... unusual
The movie "Underground" is the 1995 Emir Kusturica one, not the later slasher flick. Very funny.

Southern Cross (even Jimmy's version)
Jason Mraz
Jack Johnson
James Taylor
And I like a lot of Jimmy B's low key sailing songs. Pirates life at forty and son of a sailor are two of my favorites. Wouldn't consider myself a parrot head but it's feel good music that puts me in the right state of mind.

Glad you like it.
My other favorites from him are:

Working for the Pullman Company
Ten Million Slaves
Nasty Letter

He's got other good one's but those stand out to me.

Great - Yes, I picked up 10 million slaves, Pullman Company and Nasty Letter. Also liked "I can see you're lying", and "Hands on yours Stomach".

I find music quite important on long deliveries and because I have a pool of different crew whose tastes range from Heavy Classical to Heavy Metal, I have a pretty eclectic library. The rule generally is that whoever is cooking that evening gets to choose the music!
