There's lots of us Sailnetter's here....who haunt both forums....Don't be surprised if a few of those posters you bailed from SN for also post here. CF does seem to be moderated more.....and while it's an excellent forum, tends to be more for cruisers, full timers and world travelers.-JoeDiver

Good to see some of my friends from SN here. I didnt bail from Sailnet because of any of the posters there...lets just say I didnt like the directoion they were going with the new moderator. I was also looking for a forum which was more like my wife and I are cruisers and true sailors. I got tired of the people who hung in the chat room on SN and then posted in the threads. I have always liked CF

And here you are as one of the SN people who trashed me because I posted once that not much new goes on at SN- Donlucas

Chat is another thing I avoid at SN.....like I avoid OT.

I was part of the very vocal majority who opposed the chat "feature" being enabled on the forum...so I don't use it....and I'm sick and tired of turning it off about every week or so.

It was me. And my canned "Tidy Titles Have Capital Letters" was never meant to be a reprimand, simply a gentle request. Most recipients would thank me for caring and promise to make an effort. I haven't sent the messgae for a while, though, since I no longer have as much time, but here is the message:

It is one of my many boring and thankless housekeeping tasks to tidy up our forums by capitalising the thread titles... It helps us look more intelligent and professional than the other forums!

Is there any chance, pretty please, that you could use capital letters to start all words in the titles of any thread you start? (It's in the "Read This First" thread, but nobody ever reads it!!!)

As a journalist I can appreciate the attention to spelling and punctuation. Most of my time here is spent in my insomnia and writing with a @#$%ing kindle keyboard. PLUS it is hard for my tired ees to see. Otherwise my posts would be a lot better in detail and accuracy. Does anyone know where a comma is to be found on a kindlefire?

Have to agree with the feeling that spelling, grammar and punctuation are still important. They are to me anyway. Just because it takes a little effort does not mean that it is not worth the effort. A long rambling post without punctuation means i cannot be bothered to read it. It may contain a pearl of wisdom, but i will not be made wiser because of it. As for texting shortcuts, would totally ignore them.Thank you to all who take the time and the trouble.

I agree with Joe and Charlie, it's just not either/or to me, either.

I find the issue of wanting to "help" folks out is the primary reason I contribute, as well as to learn, 'cuz there's always something new.
