So you post where you are anchored, and then you don't see any CF members there. :-)

Re: Move Please, Get Outta the Way

So Sailorboy, where you at and how's the weather treating you?
Stay safe....

Im outta your way as SeaFever is on the hard in nc near sneads ferry. Hoping she doesn't sail off the stands...
The yard wouldn't let me in to get her till Tuesday , lotta good that does ...
Even with mt fee paid I didn't rate as good as those wanting haulout, or just wouldn't spare the half hour to load on my trailer way last week already .
Just hope I don't have to dig her out of a heap of others too

I'm at Great Bridge Va and should be in Carolinas tomorrow. I'll planning on staying away for being able to go ashore for a few days to allow the budget to relax some. But then there better be BBQ!

Move Please, Get Outta the Way

There will be Barbecue and if genuine it will be distinctly different from down South or out Tx way.
Stay away from the chain restaurants for the good stuff.

Re: Move Please, Get Outta the Way

I couldn't find any North Carolina BBQ in smaller towns so I went 12 miles out of our way up the Fear River to Wilmington. I figured it was a "real" town and there would be BBQ. Guess what, the whole downtown seems to be a foodie place but there isn't any BBQ. There isn't a BBQ place in less than an hour walking distance.

There a couple of brew pubs and I'm trying to use those to make up for the problem.

Red or brown BBQ? You can get mustard based in Charleston.

Did you pass by Beaufort, NC? There was a great BBQ place in walking distance of the public docks there a year ago. Best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had, served out of a takeout window.

Hahaha, I did love the backstreet. Especially the popcorn that started coming out a few beers in. Nice that they look after those sailors whose tendencies stray towards excess ...

I did based on all the great things I had read. Didn't see any Backstreet and when I asked the locals about BBQ they said there wasn't any and I didn't see any. If you are thinking Rplands (would be a long walk) it is closed now.

The Dockhouse was 2 slips over from me and had a bad band playing both nights I was there so we couldn't go to sleep till midnight the first day and 1:30am the second.

I'm not planning to stop there again if I am passing through the area.

Re: Move Please, Get Outta the Way

There's apparently BBQ here in wilmington, just not in walking distance. Turns out there is a delivery service for some of the restaurants here so just maybe ..........

That's cruising 101, but usually instead of complaining about the bands, new cruisers were complaining about the restaurants until maybe 1130 calling

"Williams, party of 5!"

"Jones, party of 4!"

on their PA Systems. This in springtime Florida.

We'd be at Pensacola Beach setting up our sailboats (beachcats) to race and the cruisers anchored in Little Sabine or elsewhere nearby would sometimes give us the full report.

Experienced Cruisers were down at Ft Mcree at least overnight where it's quite

Of course, back then though Banana Bob's would be rockin till all hours and packed (it was mid to late 90's and before the internet craze) which made it nice to be 39 years old at the time. Race in the afternoon, chase the ladies in the evening until all hours

Re: Move Please, Get Outta the Way

I hope the BBQ works out for you in Wilmington! It is too bad the slip space was so limited, I was on the other side nearer the lavs when I was there, and unfortunately cannot recall the name of the BBQ as crew picked it up. If only there were fewer permanent anchor outs, Beaufort would really open up...
