Most accurate website for sea height forecast

What is Most accurate website for sea height forecast in the UK?

Some websites are termed ''surf'' forecast, such as this one

Freshwater West Surf Report, Surf Forecast and Live Surf Webcams

Not really sure if its for Marine use though. Check it out

Thanks

Re: Most accurate website for sea height forecast

This site is obviously targeted at surfers. Keep in mind that the sea state changes rapidly with water depth (the energy of long wavelength swell is reflected/refracted offshore), with the protection given by islands and headlands and with possible changes in tidal stream.

For France, the Channel and the Celtic Sea, I use this: North Atlantic model - PREVIMER - Coastal observations and forecasts

Nice website, note however that when I deliver my boat to its mooring ill be staying close to shore, no more then 1-2 miles offshore. I notice that site supplies wave heights well offshore. I will be referring to the site your supplied me as it looks like a proper marine website.

gulfbreez,
You just have to click on the small map on the right-hand side of the screen. Since this is a French site, you can't get detailed previsions for England or Wales.

The forecasts are produced by cooperation between Météo-France (French weather service), SHOM (French hydrographic office) and IFREMER (French office for ocean exploration). IME, they are fairly reliable. A French Navy weather forecaster told me this is state of the art.

Yep, got it now. Thanks for that. Does this site have a 10 day wave forecast?

Buoyweather app gives a 10 day forecast when you subscribe. Two or three days for anyone else.

Re: Most accurate website for sea height forecast

You select the forecast day by clicking on the calendar at the right. Then you select the time just under the calendar.

Above the small map on the right, there is a menu where you can switch between "Map", "Temporal" and "Spectrum".

When selecting "Temporal", you obtain the curve for significant wave height at the position indicated on the small map. You can select another point just by clicking on it. For some points, you also get measurements because there are wave buoys.

"Spectrum" displays the forecast wave energy spectrum at the selected point.

Some swell seems to be coming in the Channel on Sunday morning!

Im going on my Macwester 28 this sat with a sailing expert and a couple of friends to deliver to its mooring

The previmer site is forecasting 0.5 to 0,75 M waves for this Sat, however some Models are showing 2.00 M waves! so not sure who to believe, the marine will put the boat in the water this Fri, the Marine charges £100 to do this, and has to be paid by this thur, so I want to make sure its a go or not before I commit. Should I wait a couple more days for the forecast to get abit more accurate?

By the way the delivery is from Milford haven to Fishguard

I do know that High pressure is forecast to make a nudge to the north by the weekend, then move east making for southerly winds at about 13 kts

Why you need web site as you can forecast yourself without internet :

Weather Navigator

if you have internet then zyGrib : zyGrib: grib file, weather data visualization

Re: Most accurate website for sea height forecast

I am not sure that Previmer is accurate in this area, with complex bottom topography. So close to shore, the seastate is strongly influenced by tidal streams. Then, I think that "offshore" computer models don't forecast accurately the conditions in the area, especially in shallow water (less than 1/2 wave length). By luck, Saturday 16 will be neaps.

Yes, it is probably wise to wait for 1 or 2 days.
