Mooring availability in Abacos

We've chartered a 37 ft monohull for a 5-day cruise and would like some help identifying harbors that have ample (or at least some) moorings available.

We are picking up the boat in Marsh Harbor and will likely follow the course recommended by the charter outfit - the Moorings - which will probably include stops in Man-O-War, Great Guana, Fowl Cay and Green Turtle Cay.

Thanks much,

Alex

Man-o-War, Guana, and Green Turtle all have moorings, as do Hope Town and Little Harbor. Fowl Cay and Pelican Cay have moorings, but they are for small boats to tie up while on the reef.

Re: Mooring availability in Abacos

green turtle had moorings in black sound two years ago but not last summer. not sure why. white sound has moorings but i prefer to anchor there.

the moorings in great guana (settlement harbor) are, to me, suspect.

hope town has pretty good moorings and, at least the one i was on, well maintained. because it's crowded they try to discourage anchoring.

haven't used the moorings at man o war but i'm pretty sure there are some in the east anchorage.

didn't use the moorings at fowl cay but i've read that they were renewed this year and may be good enough for a large catamaran.

treasure cay only had two moorings left last summer but there is good anchoring there.

I did the same trip years ago on a Morgan OI 41. We just anchored out every night and took the dink in when we dined ashore.
