Re: mice on board help !

Three aggressive little chithead cats onboard this boat... there is a big rat that lives along the wall beside where we have been med-moored for the last month doing repairs. Hasn't tried to board us yet, but I and my feline crew are looking forward to it trying

Re: mice on board help !

I can add my support to a cat solving your problem. They're proper little death machines, which is why my two never leave the flat, and will sort it out. My flat is a death zone for anything living intruding from lizards (which I try and chase off) to spiders to cockroaches to anything that wants to invade. Mine are a brother and sister pair of rescue cats and will provide companionship along with pest eradication.

1. Use mouse trap ? Worried the bait may attract more mice.

2. Remove ALL food and hope mice leave ?

Would mice if there is no food eat hose ? electrical wiring ?

Thanks

Check out some of the youtube videos using the style called "walk the plank" mouse trap. FYI...mice won't care if there are other dead mice around. They just going about their business which is eating everything.

Here is a guaranteed trap.
  1. Bucket 1/2 full of water/antifreeze for winter
  2. pop can with a small hole in both ends
  3. wire coat hanger threaded thru pop can and used to support pop can across the top of the bucket, make sure can will rotate.
  4. smear the pop can with peanut butter
  5. put a small plank as a not too steep ramp to the top of the bucket
Neighbour caught 13 in his one year, my best is 5

I caught 22 in my cellar that way over a two day period. I live in a 100+ year old farm house out in the middle of an 80 acre field.

If you keep your boat on a trailer or have it on land don't leave a ladder up against it to get on and off as the mice will climb the ladder.
I know, this is an old thread but mice are always an issue.
