marine surveyor malaysia

I am looking at a sailboat in Malaysia out of a one in a million chance does anyone have a recommendation for a surveyor or know someone that might be able to recommend one.

I am leery of brokers and someone they know.

No offence to any broker here but I want to cover my butt as much as possible.
Im waiting for the flaming so go ahead.

We think Jimmy ( and Carolyn ) Watt are fantastic too

I used them in a new build situation and they are extremely competent, especially when it came to the complex area of CE certification

The only issue is that they are taking a well earned break in the USA for a while - we are sure they will be back, but in the meantime, another very competent survey team are Jamie and Niki

They are based in southern Malaysia but do great work throughout South East Asia

Good luck with the purchase !

Re: marine surveyor malaysia

Carlise,

I'm looking at getting some survey work on 44 cat east Malayasia (Miri) I emailed Jimmy and his schedule is full. Do you happen to know of any other decent surveyors. Right now we are looking at having the boat moved to Kudat for haul out.

Re: marine surveyor malaysia

I recently used Richard Lamble (MSES) who used to be based in Singapore but now in HK. He did a survey for me in Singapore without charging for travelling from HK because he fits it in with other appointments. You might be fortunate enough to agree something similar.

He seemed very professional and observant..

In that part of the world, it is worth waiting for a good surveyor. However inconvenient it is. That is all I will say really.
