I am taking my boat from the great lakes to the Bahamas so I needed to get insurance for the Bahamas. I received a reasonable quote from Geico, but when I called to ask questions about the quote, I found out that I have to list my boat as being kept in Florida and not Wisconsin, even though I am heading down there and returning back home 6 months later and wont be south during hurricane season. That more than doubled my quote. What does everyone else do. Is there a workaround for this type of situation.

I’d suggest you contact some other underwriters, preferably those who are marine insurance companies who won’t play games with cruising port locations.
