Marina within 45 miles of Boca Raton, Fl?

Hi there,

I'm a new-ish member. This might even be my first post. My husband and I are looking to get a catamaran, likely 50ft. We are beginning to look at marinas in our area.

Does anyone have any recommendations? We would probably prefer to be at a dock, but are open to being on the hook. We'd even consider docking at someone's home if they weren't using the dock.

We have some time. The earliest we'd have the boat is a year from now.

Thanks for the guidance. This info will help us know whether or not we should be thinking of keeping or selling our home.

There are so many marinas within 45 miles of Boca that you shouldn't have any problem, though I'm not personally from the area so I can't recommend any.

As for a dock behind someone's home, what I can tell you is that here in the Tampa Bay area there are a fair number of these available at most any time. In general they go for about 1/2 to 2/3rds of the price of a marina dock, but of course lack the amenities of a marina. In particular, be sure to check the parking options. I see them listed on craigslist, either in the "parking/storage" section or in the "boats" section.

Good luck.

There are lots of docks behind houses in Ft. Lauderdale that are rented out by the owners. If you do not intend to live aboard you should have little trouble finding one.
