I've spent some time sailing offshore, but never more than 21 days. When you sail in the tradewinds around the world, land keeps getting in the way.

I reckon that a thousand continuous days at sea is tough to do, but it's not nearly as difficult as a thousand continuous days on dry land. Now that's an accomplishment!

I meet lots of people doing a thousand continuous days on dry land living lives of quiet desperation in golden cages and popping antidepressants just to keep going.

Just a heads up to the members. There are many controversial aspects to the 1,000 Days at Sea effort. They are discussed in complete depth on other web sites.

We have chosen not to discuss aspects of Reid Stowe's personal life as the discussions deteriorate rapidly. We have closed several threads over the last 2 years.

As long as this thread stays on the topic of the sailing effort and stays nice it should be ok.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
