An exciting video. Sometimes you have little choice, but to just do it! That was not a stunt. It was a tactic performed by a skilled sailor. Note that the seas were coming from starboard at about 45deg. You need an engine for this. You aim dead on to the right breakwater. You won't have any trouble going to port. So stay to starboard and you'll slip by the breakwater. Once my prop left the water for an instant and I was sure it would rip apart, but all went well. Note all had on life jackets. My nine year old daughter said "No big deal"....If anyone knows Morro Bay and Turtle Bay. You may comiserate with me. My boat of 35 years was the 50' 23 ton Ketch y'awl "Daedalus" (Google). I now sail year'round in the beautiful deep sandy bays of Alabama in my modified Rob Roy 23.
