Looking for a partner to go half on a cheap 30ft or longer, east coast

I'm in Lexington KY, 38 yo guy looking to do some sailing. I'm not rich so I need to go the cheaper way. I'm open to different options. My main goal is finding another to help get something started. I'm not poor but I don't have a load sitting in the bank.

You planning on going east to salt or you looking for something to use in larger lakes??

Have you thought about starting by joining up with local racers? Or somewhere on the E Coast with a regular schedule of races? I've not done it but everyone says it is a great way to get started.

Maybe you're experienced as a sailor and don't need to start that way. But tagging along on race boats would certainly be cheaper than buying, even if you are only buying 1/2.

Yeah my plan is to keep it on the east coast, I guess I I should have put that. I was hoping the other would already be near the water. There's a couple race groups in my state, mostly kids and the older one's are too tied in their lives to make it happen. I could just get a cheap boat and sail on a local lake but it would be little wind and little fun. As far as racing for me to get involved in more professional/advanced stuff I would need to with the crew often and I couldn't go back and forth from home to the coast.

Maybe you should start chartering given the distance.. Not like having your own but sure beats paying for a boat that may sit a lot.
