And yes.. It is the fugliest sailing yacht in the world as well as being the largest...

But quite a sight it is indeed..the pic doesn't do its size justice. It rivals the hill behind it..

The port is Cartagena, Spain.. In case you are nearby and want to take a look :-)

I'd like to see it close hauled and healing 20+% and then think about all the exquisite fine dining implements being tossed out of the cupboards onto the floor.

Brutalist architecture on the sea. Not too sure just how much it would heal close hauled, but I"d imagine that the issue has been addressed in the overall engineering. A boat like that probably has gimbled internal decks with computer controlled inertial dampers.

The picture looks as if that mega-yacht on the quay is about to be loaded on board as the dinghy!

So far I've seen pictures of one sail up, but never sailing. I wonder if it does?

It looks like a sex toy for a giant you dislike.

I'd like to see it bury the rails! With all of the hatches open!

It serves its purpose I think, there have been many threads about it.
I believe it's just the Rich mans version of the cars with big wheels, or the stereos that just make bump noises.

I just looked up the word "ugly" in the dictionary.
There was a picture of that boat.

Re: Look who arrived today in the neighborhood!

Well I don't think you need to fear multiples of these showing up in your sailing area any time soon. I don't think I could even afford the operating cost for a single month.

Granted, it may not pleasing to the eye in a traditional sense - but I find it compelling on many levels and if I had hundreds of millions to spend before I died I would probably tick off plenty of people with my tastes.

I don't think I would want to live in that, but I sure wouldn't mind being invited to a party or spending a week or two on it! I'll have to find who owns it and let them know I'm available to test out what a VIP experience is like.
Maybe that could be a job one could do even. Official "VIP Treatment Assesment" services. Treat me as a VIP and I'll rate and review your services and publish them. lol

I liked this video - it showed so much more of the boat itself.
Reminds me of the yacht I "own" in GTA

Re: Look who arrived today in the neighborhood!

It reminds me of the sail-assist rigs that Ratsey & Lapthorn designed in the 60s to assist downwind passage of the tug-towed, jack-up ocean oil rigs.
