I was certain that many owners had succesfully managed being separated from their boats, and your responses confirmed that I was right. Thank you all for your suggestions.

i sailed gulf coast for a year and loved it--now i am at my own boat and planning my my own boat. but i have another one here in san diego on mooring within the range of WEBCAM.....and a decent neighbor to watch her.

Just recently a boat owner left his catamaran unattended at anchor at Port Hadlock, ended up dragging anchor and taking a couple of boats with is trashed.
