Yup...A lifestyle I gave up in my 20s. They seemed to want to paint voyaging as something it's not. Before L & A, it was "Easy Rider" magazine with "Miraculous Mother". They did know how to drum up business from new comers though.

...Who gets to say? Voyaging is different things to different people.

Re: Latts and Atts: Something happened

I have been an avid subscriber of LATS and ATTS almost since the beginning of the magazine. I loved the fun, real world format and lack of stuffiness you find in the other mags. Bob was inspiring with his atttude. But I admit I noticed it changed over the years and immediately after the sell I was ready drop it becasue it loked like every other boat magazine. Too bad. All good things come to an end.

It must be hard for Bob to see such a large part of his life's work disappear like that.

I am also sorry to see it go. I also am not into the drinking, partying stuff anymore but I enjoyed the articles from real people. I also heard Bob give a talk in Oakland & enjoyed it. I hope all is well for them and the others who work at L & A.

Re: Latts and Atts: Something happened

Ditto Sailor g. Enjoyed the mag; fun (hold the starch), completely unpretentious and sometimes silly. Published my first ever article (Thanks!!). Met Bob,Jodi, Woody etc. and thought they were a great bunch.
Sail on J&B !! Hope to see you out there and around the docks.

Re: Latts and Atts: Something happened

A shame. I haven't subscribed for a while, but I always enjoyed the magazine. Frequented the forums on occasion as well. Bob and Jody are just honest cruiser folk trying to make a living. Playing to their audience? Sure, but they had a niche because they provided what people wanted. I enjoyed talking to them at the shows - they make time for anyone who wanted to chat about boats and cruising.

FWIW, the guy's name *is* Eric Stone. He's sort of the L&A house band. Look him up. I've seen him play and like the music. Much like Buffett's style, but he is an original.
