It was a great magazine (my favorite) but now not much content. Just a lot of advertising.

Maje, We have written for both. Any magazine today needs as much advertising as they can get to continue publication. Advertising is what keeps all of them afloat, Lats and Atts, Cruising World, you name it. Living Aboard has some interesting articles written by...well, live-aboards. If you are just starting out, you might find some interesting stuff. If you have been cruising and living aboard for some time, it might not be so interesting. And what keeps my interest might not keep yours. I would suggest picking up a few copies of each as opposed to just one and read them and make that decision for yourself. Chuck

We use to love Latitudes and Attitudes but stopped purchasing it when the advertising got too much and the price got up to somewhere around $8.00 a copy (WM price).
Still have a collection of some of the old issues that we can't bring ourselves to get rid of.

For a slightly different approach - and a much better price! - try Latitude 38:

Latitude 38 - The West's Leading Sailing and Marine Magazine

Comes out monthly, and the download is free.
Same caveat as with Latitudes and Attitudes - the more you know, the less interesting the magazine becomes...

Liked it especially well when they put a Westsail 32 on the cover last fall.

Go to any advertiser listed in the magazine including any West Marine store and pick up a free copy every month, or pay an annual mailing fee of $30 for home delivery.
I've been doing it since 1983.

I use to watch the archived L&A shows on the internet and really liked them allot....seems they pulled it...the mag is over priced for the content.

So I decided to save for my own Shannon instead of helping Bob pay for his.

What I've liked about it compared to many of the others is that it seems to be a bit more grouded in how most people really cruise.

i haven't read it for years, but when it first came out I found the literary level of the writing to be so poor that I found it painful to read.

I prefer Latitude 38 over anything else. The publishers and writers are not full of themselves, like the glossy magazines.
