Land based activities - BVI

I will be heading back to the BVI this winter and will have friends coming and going over the two weeks I am there. One group has expressed a concern for shore based activities especially hiking. Can anyone suggest anchorages that have good hiking opportunities?

Tortola has some good hiking opportunities...Sage Mountain comes to mind, also a zip line operation, a sports club with excellent tennis facilities, and a Dolphin Discovery, among other things. Virgin Gorda has some good hikes, including to Gorda Peak, and others in the North Sound area starting at Bitter End Yacht Club. Anegada has just about the walking you could ask for!. Norman and Peter Islands also have good hiking opportunities.

Mountain biking is a popular sport among the locals.

Jost Van Dyke has excellent mountain biking along the dirt roads towards the peaks... they will kick most everyone's butt. Getting a bike is the hard part.

St. John is great for hiking and we have hiked to the top of Virgin Gorda from where you can see Anegada on a clear day.

Bubbly Pool at the NE end of Jost is cool, especially with a north wind. 20 minute easy hike.
Good trail behind the restaurant at the Bight on Norman Island. Great views, even a helipad up there. Maps available at the dive shop.
Sandy Cay has a perimeter hike, good views from the north side. Take bug repellent.
Peter Island has a good one too.

Steven my best hikes at BVI have been Norman's behind the restaurant at Pirates bight to see the back side and snorkel the beach in the shallows lots of conch and other critters. That is an moderate one good trail. The challenging one is from the Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke take off going west up the road and then turn towards the peak with the big antenna on it. Lots of goats road is rough from erosion troughs but you can make it, the view up on top is on a good day beautiful you can see Anegada, Virgin Gorda, Tortolla, St John, St Thomas, Norman, Coopers etc. You hike down to the fork towards Foxy's and then hike over on the road to the point on the right back to Ivan's and Soggy Dollar, if its where your dingy is beached.

Hiking from the bar at one end of the beach righhhhht down to the bar at the other end of the beach. And you are only allowed to stop at all the bars in between.

Tough work after a while! I had to stop for a breather, after a while, at a bar.

We call that the jvd shuffle! Do a shot at each bar. It's probably a good idea to leave your boat in front of one love, take a taxi down to taboo or maybe even swim over to bee line and start from there!

No Pusser's distillery, but the Callwood Distillery on Cane Garden Bay, Tortola is a good visit.

Another hike not mentioned is Salt Island. Peter Bay has walking trails. The east end of Anegada is cool, but very flat. Our favorites are the St. John National Park trails and the Bitter End/Biras Creek trail loops on Virgin Gorda's North Sound.

I already posted this earlier on another thread but see this one is relevant too.

I am wondering if anybody has done the beach hiking from Loblolly Bay back to the Setting point, starting westward (towards Cow's Wreck). It is about 10 miles. By looking on Google Earth it looks mostly sandy beach with a short stretch of rocks.
a) has anybody done this and is it worth the effort? I love the remoteness and the ocean crashing on the reef at Anegada.
b) is it advisable to sleep on the beach rather than rushing to do it in one go as I would try to avoid the peak sun hours?
