You are thinking of Clear Lake Marine
center. There are some long term( non cruiser) live aboard anchored across from them. Supermarket and restaurants across the street. BUT...the north side of the lake can be rough with the prevailing southerlies and in the winter you will be bouncing on the bottom with every cold front blowing the water
out of the bay. And then there is the high speed weekend traffic. I have anchored outside the channel by Seabrook shipyard on occasion, same problems. Try Blue Dolphin marina, I found them reasonably priced and pleasant as far as marinas can be. Also, check out the docks behind Seabrook Classic cafe and the Turtle Club.
