Jamaica: South Side Marinas / Fuel

Does anyone have any current info on Jamaica in general? Are there any marinas on the south side or west side to refuel for a jump to Panama.

Have not stopped there but I believe there are a couple of marinas in Kingston on the SE coast. I have stopped at the Montego Bay Yacht Club on the northwest corner. Nice stop, away from down town, relatively quite location.

Crime is an increasing problem in Jamaica so be cautious if you leave the marinas.

Jamaica was the only Caribbean island where I was offered cocaine by a street vendor during the daytime, and I witnessed an almost knife fight. This was in early 2002. Use a taxi to escort you (ie. wait for you) and you shouldn't have a problem for short trips to town.
I experienced extremely dirty fuel at Montego Bay on the NW corner of the island.

Pick a good weather window for your trip to Panama as it can be quite a slog.

You might try the Royal Jamaican Yacht Club close to Kingston (Palasados near Port Royal).

Don't know if this would be out of your way but Port Antonio is the place to go in Jamaica. None of the bad stuff there. Errol Flynn Marina | Jamaica
