With shipping and duty they are a lot more expensive than the retail price should be in America . . . . . . . .

Re: Is this company real?

FYI, here is a site that is good for running an initial check on a website...

Scamadviser.com | check a website for risk | check if fraudulent | website trust reviews |check website is fake or a scam

Another no vote though for any site that wants bank transfer or money transfer with no other options

Re: Is this company real?

I clicked on scamadviser and my WOT ( web of trust ) app says scamadviser is a scam . The reviews say I DON"T TRUST scamadviser etc. I also checked outboardboatsale.com with WOT and here is what one person had to say name of "donfred" 07-26-15 Left CC info before i saw the fine print asking for bank transfer . A day later the CC was fraudulently used for a web identity hiding software service. Luckily i didn't do a bank transfer and the CC cancellation was already in progress . I don't trust .
That is the only user review for that site .

Thumbs up Re: Is this company real?

Last year I purchased a Tohatsu 9.8 from this company:

Cumberland Watersports

Very good experience, shipping was free and right on time. Their pricing was better than anything I could find locally and there is a real person on the phone when you call if you have any questions.

Yeah, it gets some mixed results and gets all sorts of accusations, but I've found it to provide a reasonable initial query point that can be tested against known online shopping sites because, at the end of the day, one would need to perform a number of separate tests like whois etc in order to establish whether or not a site may or may not be a scam. Keeping in mind I directed the advice at an OP that didn't run and not look back at an offshore site that only accepted payments of the form used traditionally by scammers.

Interestingly enough, testing mywot.com in scamadvisor pulls up alarms too, so I guess competition is stiff in the scam advisor website biz!

Re: Is this company real?

Like Luciarose, I bought a Tohatsu 8 hp from Cumberland Watersports on advice from a friend. No charge for shipping. Arrived within a week of my order; took 15 minutes to uncrate it and get it set up. I am very happy with that engine. I thought it was a good price; engine cranks on first pull.

Re: Is this company real?

May have been real back in 2016 but if you see any ads for it now, it’s a SCAM. You’ve been warned.

Any recent updates on this company, ATHTRepo?! Looking to purchase from them and trying to see if they are legit since they only accept wire transfers?!

Re: Is this company real?

Check out Reddit warning, this same scammer has made multiple fake auction sites. As soon as they are shut down after ripping people off, they start another one:

Re: Is this company real?

StuM…thanks so much! I just read through that and saw a duplicate site with exact inventory! It most definitely has to be a scam. Too good to be true! Appreciate your help!

Never, never, ever send money by wire unless you are absolutely, positively, 100% certain that the person or company you're sending the money to is legit. Once gone it's almost impossible to get back.
