Is there an Ultimate Cruising Compendium?

I'm sure my dad has plenty of ideas and solutions to problems we might encounter while cruising, I however, don't. So I was just wondering if anyone knew of a book or online resource that pretty much just summed up Sailing in the Big Blue?

I'm curious about great spots to hit, how to plot courses, problems you might encounter, where's the best place to stop and clean your hull?, how much water should you drink?, the best foods to have on board, etc...

Fundamentally, a Beginner's guide to Cruising.

Regards,
Drew

Is there "a book or online resource"? In a word, no. To get all the information you mention it would take a small library and/or several online resources.

Right, I feared as much.

So now, time to get a local library card, raid the library, and lock myself in a room for 6 months...

Haha!

Beth Leonard's The Voyager's Handbook is very comprehensive and detailed.

I would say you are already here. The world of the possible includes a lot of things unlikely. We have a LOT of posts about almost everything. If you find something not covered you can always ask. It's kept us busy almost 10 years here. I doubt the pace will slow in the next few years.

We have a few new members from years ago returning from multi year trips now. Many seem to feel CF was a key part of trip planning. we are the best single point of contact for cruising. Not that you can't find other places with other things to say but we are the biggest.

There really isn't a way to "sum it up". If there really was you wouldn't need to do it. It's a good thing!
