Info Needed Transport Costs

Looking for information about cost to transport vessel by truck. Has anyone done this and if so approximate distance and size of boat?

Re: Info Needed Transport Costs

... Maybe better ask from where to where and give details of the boat?

Regards,

Re: Info Needed Transport Costs

www.uship.com has a shipping estimator at bottom of page, different boats/distances to compare, if price is what you want to know. I shipped my 28' BCC from CT to VA, a 24' Dana from MD to FL, and a Bristol 35.5 from Panama City to Ft Myers. Significant portion of the expense is not distance. Haul out/pulling mast/emptying tanks/putting everything away, then loading is a chunk, especially at boatyard prices. Same at arrival. The more of that you can do yourself, the better.

Re: Info Needed Transport Costs

35-45' sailboat will cost about 15-20k coast to coast.

There are A LOT of variables many of which relate to weight and draft and start / end points which constrain route options.

The uShip site has a tab in the upper right corner that says "find Shipments". You can hit that and look for like kind boats and mileage and get a good current idea of shipping costs. They have a boat category. Good Luck

If you wanted to do it yourself it must be possible by water? What about a delivery captain as an alternative?

Re: Info Needed Transport Costs

The cost will vary a HUGE amount depending on the boat. Does the boat require permits as a Wide Load, need a chase car or not, vertical clearance loaded on the trailer requiresrouting around low bridges, etc. With any or all of the above it could be double or triple the cost of a smaller boat that can travel as normal cargo.

Cost me just over $1000 to move a 42' boat with 13' beam about 80 miles. Smaller boat could be a few hundred for the same move.

It would be helpful if you stated size and beginning and ending points.
