You've been lucky. Usually it's the airline that makes you get a return ticket as they don't want to have to fly you back for free if refused entry. This happened to a friend flying into the Bahamas last year. Just the ornery airline person she got as most fly into the Bahamas to meet boats with just a one-way ticket.

Thanks. I will make sure I travel with a copy of boat ownership papers etc with me for future flights returning to the boat.
