Herbs man, herbs: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, etc. Like the song. My "special sauce" potting soil seems to add a little extra something.

News of the Primadonna from Towndock in Oriental:

Wednesday February 26, 2014
In early January the news was that SV Primadonna had gone aground on Bobby Cay Island in the Bahamas. Booby Cay is a tiny island of 300. It was reported that the vessel & crew entered the Bahamas without checking in with authorities. This is a big no-no in the Bahamas.


Today, Pat Stockwell has a Primadonna update:
The good news is the dog is okay. The bad news is Mayaguana now has a non-diveable wreck in Boobie Lagoon.


Utica Lightbourne, on Booby Cay, sent Pat this info early this week:
About three weeks ago they (Pascal and Monique, the Primadonna crew) were escorted off the island by the police and Island Administrator and to my knowledge were handed over to the French embassy. The boat is still aground here.

My brother in law has the dog. And I guess the boat will just stay there until someone frees it but i don’t see that happening right now as we have the only boat large enough to pull it and we were never paid for towing it.


It sounds like this may be the end of the line for the voyages of SV Primadonna.

That was the worst case of thread drift I ever saw, until this last post. Thanks for the update. Time for these two to get a job, but they wont. Look for another new "need a free boat" thread, in about 2 to 4 years.

If they haven't been on their boat or even on the island for 3 weeks, I'd imagine that by now anything aboard of value has probably been "salvaged" by locals. Too bad to leave the boat there where it'll eventually fill with water and become a permanent eyesore in a beautiful spot but if somebody did tow it, where to and who would pay for it? Maybe the Bahamas government will, but based on all the unsalvaged airplanes you see scattered around the Bahamas that didn't quite make it to the airport, it seems to be their policy to just leave them where they lie.

We're all tired of reading about the French ********. This is the result.

I could see a small dive shop operator digging it up and dragging it out for a new dive site for beginners. We had a small Pearson that broke free of our mooring and washed up on the beach, got a big hole, and was basically "unsalvageable". The local diver operator moved it off the beach and dropped it in 40 feet of water for a wreck dive site for teh cruise ship people; however, that was less than a week later.

I have no idea how the Bahamas treats such things, but the pollution issue would be considerable with an engine full of oil as well as whatever is in the fuel tanks and the holding tank. Also, unless the rig were first removed or it were dropped in deep enough water to ensure that the top of the mast stayed well under the surface even if it shifted during a storm, it would become a hazard to navigation. That's a lot of potential liability and trouble for someone to go to when there are so many other interesting things to see underwater in the Bahamas.

There seems to be a lot of confusion on this thread about the role of Pat, the victim and what went on. First of all Pat is not the store owner, he is an employee. I don't know what he gets paid but I bet it isn't much. The check in question was not accepted for a purchase from the store. The crew of the Primadonna ostesibly sold something from their boat on the internet to raise money. The story they told is that they accepted this check in payment for that item. The local banks would not cash the check because the owner of Primadonna did not have an account at the banks. Pat had been befriended by the crew of Primadonna agreed to co-sign the check for them so they could get it cashed. When the check proved bad the next day the bank took the money out of Pat's account. This is not a case of a business being bilked out of the money, it is a personal issue. After this incident Pat could not get the time of day out of the Primadonna crew after speaking to them on almost a daily basis for several months. This is not just a story of the theft of the money, but of personal betreyal. The scum that was the crew of Primadonna does not deserve sympathy from anyone. I find it sad they were turned over to the French embassy, I would rather have heard that they got to spend a few months in Fox Hill prison.

I sat next to Ronnie Van Zant on an airplane once (not that airplane). He asked if i wanted to have a drink with him and of course I said yes. We drank 8 of those little bottles of Jack Black each on a 45 minute flight to Jax. Fla.

I did inhale.
