Being a multi-national married couple - if your boyfriend has a US Green Card - then he should know that he cannot leave the USA (and territories) for more than 6 months without permission. And he does and or stays out over a year without permission or two years with permission -it is probable that the "green card" will be revoked. The idea is that if you are not living in the USA what do you need a green card for?

If you are married, then there is a 2 year reduction in the normal 5 years period that he must live in the USA - 50% of which he must be physically in the USA.

You can get specifics from I-130 Only - USC, LPR, Family Preferences - for IV -The Home of US Family Based Immigration Resources
