I found this

I found this post - Missed it initially....FYI

Dear cruisers and wannabes

As many of you have noticed I haven't been online much for the last two years. You have been great members for a community like ours - no problems at all. Thanks a lot!

GordMay and Amphibian have been good help as moderators. They have kept their eyes on the forum and have contacted me when we've had technical problems. Thank you! I hope you will continue in the same way.

Since CruisersForum is like a baby for me, I want it to be in the best hands for the future. I realize I don't have the time to give it the nessesary care and attention, so I'm now very pleased to announce that Andy R from now on will be captain.

Andy R is an expert on the software behind the forum, both vBulletin and PhotoPost. He manages several other forums as you can see at his website:

Social Knowledge - Peer Community Networks

CruisersForum will now be a part of Social Knowledge - Peer Community Networks

This will be the best solution for all of us, including me. I can relax knowing that the forum always will be in the best hands.

Finally I wish you all a Merry Christmass and a Happy New Year.

Gisle

Must be something to do with some people's settings. This announcement has been appearing at the top of all my forums since Christmas day. Wondered why csy appeared so shocked & dismayed.

I found it under Seamanship while reading other threads. Never showed on my end, but I am a Mac guy, so sometimes things work a little differently.

Ahhh... so *that's* why I always thought Capt Lar was so cool. A fellow Mac guy. Expains a lot.

To add to this, I saw this post under every single heading as a "sticky" or "persistant" note. It hovered at the top for about a week.

I'm on OSX.3.9 running the lastest Firefox browser.

Also a G5 on 10.3.9
Still better. I have both, but rarely use the "other"
My setting allow all, so it probably is a Safari thing. Sorry to post what other have already seen, but I do not get banners or pop-ups or the rest of the Explorer stuff. I did find it in "Forum News". I do not routinely check it - just ongoing threads.
My bad !

I may just be stating the obvious, and if so I apologize, but for those that may not be aware (I wasn't for some time, but then I'm a slow learner!) I THINK I don't miss new threads and posts since I just always click on "View New Posts" when I enter the forum and it brings up everything that's new in every category since I was last on the board.
