Thanks much for
posting these video links. Instead of Giligan's Island reruns, I think the
family and I will be watching these for the next
family movie night. The
dismasting one was good too. Question in my mind, among many, is how to replace four able bodied
men, all who look like they are pretty experienced, with a late 40's couple, a 12 year old boy and a 15 year old boy.
When our mainsheet block blew apart duriung a blistering sail up the Jumentos a couple of years ago, just as we were navigating between a couple of
reefs, we handled it pretty well, never dropping sail or slowing down much, and had a jury-rigged
repair in place (that held for a couple thousand more miles) in less than 45 minutes. We felt pretty good about that. But holes in the
hull, or broken masts? I'm sure we'd survive, and I'm sure we will learn a lot from these videos.
