I wouldn't worry about the exact height of her mast as long as you know your clearance... don't want to be cleaning the underside of any bridges.

Hard to judge vertical distances. My guest freaked when passing under the Mare Island Causeway Bridge.

Cool stuff! Are all of your navigation instruments right there at the helm? I notice the chart table is right there, is there a separate nav. station on board?

What's your estimate?

deck is about 3' above the waterline, mast is about 35' and another 1' or 2' so for VHF antenna. So overall I have about 40' total height.

The only the navigation site is adjacent to the helm (unless one uses the desk in the saloon). Here's the helmsman's view (left to right, top to bottom, radar/electronic chart, depth finder, fuel-flow meter, spotlight control, air-horn control, auto-pilot, rudder indicator, bilge pump, windshield wiper and anchor control, JD engine panel, gear shift and throttle, additional horn button, and bow-thruster control):

I'd say it's near impossible to judge the distance while looking up when passing under the bridge. My masthead at 54"6" appears to nearly strike the bottom of the 228' high Verrazano Bridge when I enter New York harbor.

My mast is 57'6" high, but my vertical clearance above the water is 54'6".

I can tell you how tall the rail bridge is.. its 70 feet at MHT.... I clipped it with my VHF ant. on the way down river last time out..

I guess that I am missing the point here! If you wonder about the height of your mast (something fairly easily measured to the degree of accuracy required), why do you want to know the height of mine?

But, just for the record, our bridge clearance is just at 70 feet, including VHF antenna, and the actual length of the mast extrusion is roughly the same, the keel step being about the same distance below the WL as the antenna extends above the truck.

Anyhow, now that you know all of our secrets, why don't you go measure your own mast and tell us!

Guess he was unaware of the fact that the bridge tender could see a lot better than he could. The tender rides UP on the bridge span. Binoculars would/could help.

Sailboatdata.com is the worlds largest sailboat database. You can figure clearance from that.
