Why do you ask? What can it possibly mean from this limited group? Serious question. Or just curious would be a good answer.

There we 1,802 or 3 of my boats produced. I know 25 of them personally and 700 of them in our website. Maximum of 30 years old to 6 years old (when they stopped production). There are lots of older boats and lotsa newer ones.

What difference does it make? Since every response to a "what boat should I buy?" includes: condition, condition, condition. We've all seen new boats in much worse shape than older, much older ones. No way to know what we have.
First off, I try not to read the "what boat to buy?" threads. They are full of qualifications and really don't contain much useful information on the whole. Secondly, I am both curious and trying to verify to myself that the age of the boat really doesn't matter as long as it has been cared for. There are a ton of great older boats out there that may scare off prospective buyers because of there age. I see these boats as a possible deal when I finally move ahead and buy. This thread is already confirming my suspicions that as long as you care for her, the age of a boat is really very trivial. The poll is already bearing that out.

I had to go with the 30-40 range, but she's a 1977 boat, so getting pretty close to the 40+.

I also voted 30-40 range, but even closer to 40+ as it's a1976 boat.

They may scare off prospective insurance companies and even marinas. Some shops refuse to work on older boats and some repair or replacement parts may be hard or impossible to find. Some systems may lack the safety features of newer boats.

Other than the above, a well cared for older boat is fine and a sure conversation starter among boaters.

Re: How Old's Your Ride?

My boat and both cars are from 2002 and my previous car was also from 2002. All just a happy coincidence

Mine was launched 10 years before the Titanic, but she's been pretty well maintained.

Re: How Old's Your Ride?

My 1974 Pearson 30 is just over 40 years old.

Encapsulated keel mean no keel bolt worries. new standing riggging, electronics, sails, and the diesel is only 30 (volvo B2000). She looks pretty enough for me. The real reason I bought her tho was the price. You don't have to be rich to sail, although it would help.
