How long would you keep....

Water in a jerry can? (From a major city source with chlorine etc.)
Diesel in a jerry can? (With preservatives added.)
hopefully I will keep this updated....

There have been times that we've kept water for 6+ months and diesel fuel for 12+ months; both were fine, though I wouldn't recommend either as a matter of course.
