Just curious as to what the average length of boat ownership is.

Lets exclude Tenders and Canoes, even if your main vessel!

With a bit of luck you should be able to vote multiple times (for each boat owned).

It only allows one vote! I got one in for my B393 (8 years) but couldn't vote again for my CS36M (24 years). Had them both since they were new but thinking of selling one.

My intention was either (whichever was easiest!) - but not sure what is up with the poll percentages

I guess my problem is I have had so many different vessels over the years, some I've had for as little as 3 months, and others 8 to 10 years. I guess, I will have to sit on the sidelines for this poll.

My main boat, 34' gaff ketch, will be 30 years in a few months.
But I own about 7 right now.

We've been on our current boat for 28 years and our earlier boat for 12 years. One week from this coming Sunday will mark our completion of forty years of liveaboard cruising. We expect to stay on this boat for another ten years. We have not come to a final decision about moving off a boat. When our physical condition ends our cruising days we might move onto a simple, one-level "houseboat". (That's a difficult word for a long term sailor to write!)

We're six years so far on the current boat. Lived on the previous boat for eight years. Not planning to purchase any more boats.

Every boat I buy is with the intention that "This is my last boat". When I had my Catalina 30 I joking said lets name it Final Boat #1, fully knowing that this was my last boat for sure. Hadn't counted on Hurricane Katrina though. My Allied 39 that I currently have for sale now was going to be my final boat for sure. Now that I just closed on my new-to-me Mainship 36, I know better. Now I just say "ya neva know".
Anyway, i fit right into the 3 -5 year range and that is how I voted.

I kept my first boat for 12 years. I have had the present one for 7 years now and intend to keep it for at last 10 more years: I can't afford to change before that time.
