how install chain plate

I have a cape dory 28 and want install chain plates for the side stays.

What do people recommend and can i get photos of installation ?

Replicate what’s already there with new material?

Replaced old chain stays with identical new 316 stainless ones. Cut the heads off the old ones and used them for backing plates.

If you can get into the This Old Boat archive there was an article close to the point – somewhere in 2008 I think… Anyway, I was thinking along these lines with my B24 (actually was going to split the lowers and needed new chain plates for the lowers altogether, and was thinking about doing what your describe for the uppers, which is how I ran inti the article some years back…
