You say your 9000 BTUH A/C consumes only 600 Watts;
1 HP = 2545 BTUH and 748 Watts:
Id expect a 9000 BTUH A/C to use more than 3.54 HP (2648 Watts).
9000 / 2545 = 3.536 HP -then- 3.54 x 748 = 2647.9 W

Not doubting you - but wondering where Im going wrong ...

Yes, my figures are right, we have all been through this before. look up previous reports on this issue.
