I'm a photographer, and I knit, crochet, and spin my own yarn, in addition to painting, drawing, building my own fishing rods, and working with hot glass. So artsy = ArtSea kinda describes me.
Another spinner/knitter here...just getting ready to move on my boat full time and having a hard time figuring out how much of the stash is going to fit!! Sea Dreamer is also a spinner/knitter.

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

I'm still looking for my boat and thus, also, deliberating on names.

The first time I went to sailing school, it was a British school located in Greece. They taught us one phrase in Greek "Yasou Nafti", which means Hello Sailor. So I have thought about S/V Yasou Nafti. But no one will understand it or remember it and spelling it out on the radio will not be easy. So I'm still pondering....

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

We are retiring in 3 years, god willing. We are planning to name our boat after our current street address "66 Morris".
My wife and I already get a kick answering the questions "So where are you guys now?" The answer would be "66 Morris", but in the South Pacific.

Hahahahahhaahhahahahahahaha ... "Hello Sailor" ... is/was the common opening line of conversation of Hookers when trying to pick up a paying customer outside a dockyard, whenever a naval ship returned to port.
'Ladies of the night' would gather en-mass at the gates, awaiting sailors exiting the naval dockyard. A pretty common practice most anywhere a naval facility existed.
I myself witnessed such scenes at Portsmouth and Plymouth, England, when I was a very young person. Cigarettes dangling out of one corner of their thickly lip-stick'd mouths, heavy make-up, often partially intoxicated. Not a pretty sight I can assure you.
Human nature being what it is, I doubt anything has changed much over the years, just maybe not so blatantly obvious.
Sorry KiminAK, but "Hello Sailor" would certainly NOT be a choice of boat name for me.

first boat "half way there", 25 ft Catalina.

second boat "more than half way there". a 32 ft Catalina

third and final boat "all the way there", Jeanneau 45.2

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

Finally! I've decided on a name. It came to me while I was laying on the couch night before last.

The S/V KaySea.

Kay=K=Kenny, Sea=C=Chris. KC=KaySea.

It's female-esque, it's meaningful, and it's totally original!

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

Silly boat names reflect poorly on their owners. Adopt a name you wouldn't be embarrassed to shout when in distress.

Well...thats pretty good....but....
I've always been a fan of anagrams. If you take both your names, and rearrange, you could use:

Sync Her Ink

OR

Cry'en Knish

Those are both outstanding...you might want to rethink...!!!

You should seriously re-consider that name! +1 to the post about silly names! But, you can be anal about it if you want.

Too cos - just remember that whatever you name your boat, you only have to please yourself.
