I used Dixieland Marine eight years ago. That fellow spent 7 hours looking at our boat it was just a 34 foot sailboat. But he did a fantastic job. With a camera and we received a full write up.Very impressed.

No deal is worth NOT waiting for Mike Firestone. Seriously, you are making a big decision. If this was for an "insurance survey", I'd tell you otherwise. But, Mike is the really the best - and worth the wait and money. Mike is painstakingly thorough.

P.S. Make sure you are there for the survey - you will learn a LOT about the boat, that won't necessarily be in the survey.

Re: Houston / Galveston Surveyor

I am also looking at getting a survey done in the next few weeks.
I keep seeing Mike's name come up.I was also given the information for
Lou Stahlberg and Roy Newberry does anyone have experience with either of them?

I've been told to expect about $14 a foot for a 40' plus the haul out fee. Does this sound accurate to anyone who has recently had a survey done?
Thank you!

Re: Houston / Galveston Surveyor

I had Paul Fannin do mine yesterday. He was on the boat before 8:30 and worked straight through until 5:30.. He was very informative happy to share information. I thought he was great.

Same experience here. Just go with Dixeland.you can't go wrong. They let you crawl around in every nook and cranny .They will show you every detail I was very impressed. What I really like is you get a nice write up with photographs so you can later refer back to it. And fix things at your own leisure. Or address the big things right away
