Re: Hit by lightning this afternoon in Botany Bay

Don't forget to ground while you are on the hard...?

Buddies boat sitting on the stands last summer. Alum stick, keel stepped on lead keel. Afternoon squall line rolled through, and WHACK! Caused the usual electrical/electronics smoke, windex smoking on the ground, and it blew every bit of fairing compound out of the keel/hull joint.

Not even safe on the hill

Yep, a sistership to ours was hit on the hard and it blew holes in the hull.

Re: Hit by lightning this afternoon in Botany Bay

Hello all,

It sure is an interesting topic.

The rigger has been aloft and the rigging is fine but the mast has to come down to do all the electrical repairs. Too many to successfully do aloft.
The insurance assessor has visited and took heaps of photos.

I have attached what photos I have that show any evidence of damage.

Hover curser over photo for a description.
