Help with choosing a new headsail

I have three bids for a new roller furled 135% genoa for my Hunter 23.
Will be mostly Colorado high lake sailed. Occasional sailor, don't want to spend a huge amount since I still have to purchase the roller, which will most likely be the Schaefer 500
The three are:

Mauri MZ1 Roller Furling 135% Genoa

Construction: X-Cut 5.8 oz Dacron
Sunbrella UV cover
Telltales
Leech and foot lines
Standard sail bag Warranty: 3 years
Mauri Roller Furling 135% Genoa: $595

CD NorDac Genoa
LP Measurement: 135 %
Max Apparent Wind: 23 Knots
5oz 4800 Dacron 149 sq. ft. Base: 483 UV Leech and Foot 72 RopeLuff Reefing Pad w/ Reefing Patches 121 Item Total: 676

From Mack Sails
7.77 oz 135% genoa with Sunbrella suncover and luff foam $1000
Highest quality cloth and finishing details available

I'm leaning toward the Mauri.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Bill

Go with a foam luff so you will be able to reef down to about 95% and still have 'decent' shape. For lake sailing go with the lighter weight cloth .... better for those 'light wind' days.

Select the roller furler FIRST so that the sailmaker will know exactly what luff attachment to add to the sail .... all the different systems require different dimension foil groove attachments.

I agree with the luff foam from observation. I have not used it. I like the cross cut sails, they give a good shape. Not sure if you can get that combo. The Hunters are very tender boats, so be careful not to get too much sail area out there. I have sailed a Hunter 25 extensively, and the boat sailed quite well in light winds, even with a 110.

Mack Sails usually uses pretty high quality cloth. Often lot of Challenge cloths. There is a consitancy in the numbering. For example 5.63 7.63 and 9.63 all share some common characteristics.

the NorDac is a midrange cloth in comparison to the best from Challenge.

You have a BIG difference in the cloth -- two vendors are quoting 5.x oz and one is quoteng 7.77 oz.

I ordered the Mauri 5.8 oz, it will go on a Schefer roller furler. Seems like a decent combination of light wind performance and durability. We'll se how their quality is in a few weeks.

Good choice on the cross cut sail. That would have been my choice. I think you will be impressed at the performance. Can't speak to the quality of the Harken furler. Never owned one.
