The reason I didn't search is because I just joined the forum today and was looking for a reason to post a thread to get my feet wet so to speak. Searching really didn't occur to me this time.

I did manage to research and buy a boat without joining a forum and asking the same old questions, by using my searchfu. So maybe I'm not a total dolt.

I'm off to the other thread, thanks again to all.
Well it's not a topic one would expect to see and think to search for. I happened to remember it because it was so interesting and certainly worth another look.

Dead Calm would be a good movie to show when putting a new unknown crew together..

We'd always try to run that one during the first few days with charter customers. I don't know how, but it ALWAYS seemed to find it's way into the VCR.

yes, MarkJ I was alone (as always it seems) but at the dock.

I must admit, I had that tense anxious feeling the whole movie. If I had been there the movie would have been much shorter, because I would have pulled out that nice old double barrel much sooner.

If you are looking for actual sailing throughout the movie? Then Morning Light is tops IMHO. All those mentioned above are good movies, but very little actual sailing in most.........i2f

Yes, I watched Morning Light a few days ago and thought it to be most excellent visually.

I'm not interested in that particular type of boat myself but I'd love to have some nice new sails after seeing that movie and some of that gear on board.

I'm surprised how well the crew got along together, if it was portrayed fairly. I wish I still had the energy and stamina those young folks on board had.

How about Shackleton (Kenneth Branagh, 2002 movie re-enactment) or Endurance (2000 documentary).
