Help identifying these items please

Hi,
I am trying to figure out what these are. They were stashed with the sail covers of a boat I just purchased. Any ideas?

1st one (the brown bag)--bag to go with a boson's chair? This bag is exactly the same material as the sail covers and tiller cover.

2nd one--any ideas on the orange thing?

Many thanks for the help!

Re: Help identifying these items please

Could the second item be a dodger for an inflatable dinghy?

Woops! I forgot about perspective. The orange triangle is only about 1.5' across on the large side.

Re: Help identifying these items please

See if you can get someone near to you to determine what the fabric is of the "brown" pieces. If acrylic fiber (like sunbrella), then they are for covering sails, most likely. What you have there, unless someone knowledgeable sees it, is not at all sure. Could be nylon cordura, but not preferred for sail covers, so thinking acrylic fiber, but cannot tell from pics. Sorry.

The red triangle with the pocket is a puzzle to me, only 18 in + or - o the base? Who knows? For the old fashioned amongst us, that's a cubit.

Hope you get it figured out.

The first object looks rather like a line organiser bag to be slung below a set of winches. The orange triangle looks a bit like a spray deflector or else a small windscoop in either case to be mounted above a hatchway. My guesses anyhow.

My guess is the orange one is a bow cover . It ties from the forestay aft. It will allow you to open the forward hatch in rainy weather. No idea about the pocket.

The bag may be a belt bag for the Bosuns chair. It would house tools etc as one went aloft.

Re: Help identifying these items please

Could the orange piece be a curtain, or blind, for a window of a dodger? Only a thought as I made something similar for our dodger to keep the evening sun off me while in our berth.

The blue bag looks like a storage bag for hatch boards

Re: Help identifying these items please

My guess is that the pocket on the orange item is for a pole of some sort - tiny bowsprit of a small hard dingy? - I liked the bow cover idea, my first guess was some kind of wind scoop or rain protector..... Look around your boat for where that pocket might fit. The other thing definitely looks like either a cockpit line bag, a bulkhead storage bag, or hatch holder - look for unused Common Sense Fasteners. Also, depending on if both sides of the CSF is on the material, they might hang over a lifeline.

Re: Help identifying these items please

Not sure on the brown one. But found a yellow version of your orange triangle on a boat we purchased. We use it as a wind scoop and/or a rain cover for a hatch. I would not have guessed that the material would be good for being outside, but ours has been out for over four years and holding up better than the new stuff. Wish I could buy that material for sail covers!

Re: Help identifying these items please

The orange cloth reminds me of the small dodger that came with my dad's old Achilles inflatable. The small pocket fit a curved piece of pvc pipe that supported the open end, and curved into another pocket at the 'forepeak' of the inflatable. It wasn't that big of a dodger, as the tubes filled most of the space.

I agree that the bag is for lines. We have two on either side of the cockpit for furling lines, spinnaker lines, and sheets when not in use. I also have seen spray dodgers with a similar set-up on dinghies.
