Can anyone help us out? We are American citizens who are about start cruising full time in and out of American territories. What our other cruiser doing for health insurance when outside the US?

Check first with your current provider, we were surprised three weeks ago when we found out that our Blue Cross/Blue Shield group policy covers us 100% in foreign countries. We just need to first pay out of pocket, then we're reimbersed 100%.

Otherwise, maybe an evacuation policy along with pay cash out of pocket might be your cheapest, best solution.

Since medical services everywhere but in the US are mostly affordable, many people paying out of pocket for routine care overseas and get catastrophic repatriation insurance only in case of a major medical problem.

Many of the plans require you to be outside the US for a specific amount of time per year, so whether you qualify will depend on how often you will come back to US ports.
