Gunboat Yachts Carries On, Sort of..

The French conglomerate, Grand Large Yachting, has just completed the purchase of Gunboat Catamarans.

Production will leave the US, and apparently will be performed in France. The North Carolina production facility will close, and I suspect all those jobs will be lost.

The new N. American Sales Office will move to Newport.

Last I heard, Gunboat had a $10,000,000 plus liability to its creditors. I suspect they will be stiffed.

No indication of when new production will begin.

Make of this what you will.

Sounds like it will be a good company for the Gunboat brand to thrive under and building in France where they a pretty good at producing boats is also a good idea and the brand can probably be more profitable being built there.

FYI Grand Large brands are

Allures
Garcia
Outremer

I wonder if they will resume the G4 development & testing. The French are a bit mad on highspeed multis, so I'm guessing they will.

I'll volunteer to spend 5 years cruising the globe, & entering races testing one of their prototypes And even though it'll be a bit of work, I'll date a Spanish model, but keep a French mistress. It'll open up the door for more sponsorship in diffferent markets such as cosmetics, & for guys, PSD details. To keep them safe from their female partners
