Re: Grumpy old men and boats.

Also. Another grump.

Recently went on a lovely mono after it rained... there were no deck cushions to sit on...

"drying out" the wife said sheepishly...

So a/. "they missed the window of opportunity" to take them in
b/. NOt waterproof.
C/. Got tired of bringing in and out all the time.

I always wondered why this issue was not resolved... ( Probably Im in the wrong income bracket to have seen how others resolve it...

Re: Grumpy old men and boats.

If I was invited to someone else's boat for a daysail following a rain and the cushions were wet, there was two inches of water in the cockpit and I was offered a warm beer.... I wouldn't complain. I'd help drain the cockpit, have a look at the fridge and just be grateful for the opportunity to spend some time with others on their boat.

Our big grump is when we invite someone to join us for a daysail or passage, then have to listen to them complain and criticize our boat and the way we do stuff.

Holy cows! I'd want a boat with wheels there! Still, it looks like a lot of fun.

Please explain how he can possibly see where he's going and see what's ahead or on the port side?

Seems like the most impractical helm.... ever.

This otta be good......

sailing in weather helps to grow brass balls.
sitting at anchor in weather is why gods made tarps for keeping cushions dry.
is always something......

However, where we sail, often the winds are flukey, and light, and hand steering is much preferred. It must be said, though, when it is nasty out, most of us seek the security that the dodger grants, and so do our sisters, cousins, and aunts. (apologies to those who understand the reference)

But, truly, we generally hang out there and keep watch, maybe we're paranoid?

Mexico is about as flukey as it gets. I only hand steer when entering anchorages or a slip. My auto does it the rest of the time.
I will also state when the hull speed gets down to around 2 kts, the engine comes on and again the AP does an outstanding job.
