Greek Marina recommendation

Does anyone have experience of Thessaloniki (Aretsou) Marina.
Any other suggestions in Athens area or East? I am looking for a long stay of 12 months or longer.

The yard at Kilada is excellent. It is about the three hour drive from Athens airport.

I stayed at the Nautical Yacht Club for 10 days, the toilets and showers are dire but if you have your own then its an ideal place, Electric and water on dock, bus stop and bakery just outside gate, plenty of Restaurants and a good supermarket within 10 mins walk.

Hi Martin
The boatyard at Kilada is called Basimakopoulos Shipyard.

Their website includes contact details:

Re: Greek Marina recommendation

Hi,
I saw your recommendation for the Basimakopoulos shipyard, and would like to know if you also recommend their technical team? I am preparing for an Atlantic crossing and looking for the ideal place to carry out the technical preparations.
Are you familiar with the nearby Franks yachtstation? Any other recommendation anywhere in Greece or elsewhere in the Mediterranean?
Thanks in advance,
Udi

Re: Greek Marina recommendation

I have been in Greece for several years. My boat is now spending its second winter ashore at Kilada. I would say it is by far the best facility I have found. Angelo is the guy you should contact. His English is excellent and he will be able to answer any questions you have.

Worth knowing it is dry storage ashore. The bay it is located in is shallow but an excellent anchorage. The village is about 10 miles from Ermioni and Porto Helli which are fast ferry stops from Athens.

Re: Greek Marina recommendation

Jenneau Owner, thanks a lot for your response! Could you share with me the kind of jobs they did for you on the boat?
I’ve heard good recommendations about this marina, but just want to make sure the technical team will suit me.

Re: Greek Marina recommendation

They are boat builders. They also have an extensive list of approved outside contractors. Last year they were doing an extensive refurb on a very large classic super yacht. They specialise in wooden boats. There are Rigging and sail contractors.
