Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

My Dads pride and joy was a watercolour of his boat, and I've always been kinda envious.

But

Just today picked up my own! Artist Christine Ross did mine in Manhattan, and in a lovely and unique way.

I like giving creative people full control - for a start what do I know about their creativity? So I just said I love my boat and I love Manhattan... and we went for a night sail.

Its oil on canvas and shows Sea Life on her mooring with NYC in da back.

If you have one of your I'd love to see it

Very nice!! Perhaps call it "Sea Life Lights Up New York." It's also great you gave the artist creative license. They love that

My older brother took up painting recently (you know, that "retired" thing) and his first try was of my boat and me nearing the Golden Gate Bridge. I hadn't thought about it till your post so just asked him if he'll send me a picture of the painting, if he finished with it.

What is the one thing a Viking loves more than his mother or his wife? His boat.
Perhaps the night sail fueled by a bottle of Pessoc Leognan White Bordeaux, an attentive autopilot and a harvest moon fueled her creativity. I would be very disappointed if it were a 6 pack of Budweiser while you hand-steered throughout the bay. Good luck, Mark, and safe sailing. Captain Rognvald

What a beautiful painting, Mark.

For our avatar we use a watercolor of Denali Rose commissioned from Jeanelle McCall (Gallery - Home Page)

Enjoy your masterpiece!

Cheers! Bill

Pretty obvious she plagiarized my work, if you ask me...

We have a photo printed onto canvas of the current yacht, but this is a water colour of a previous rib. The photo was taken by a friend just before we crossed the English Channel for the first time for a weeks holiday on board.

My best work are these sea state drawings done everyday. I'm bringing my sketch book on every outing now.

Re: Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

Very nice! When I read the title of this thread I was expecting traditional boat portraits. I'm pleasantly surprised.

A few years ago the sales rep for Hunter sailboats asked me if I knew of a boat they could hire as a photo boat. It was just after the Miami Boat Show and they wanted to photograph their boats with pretty girls on them. I of course volunteered my boat. My payment was to be several photos of my boat shot by a professional. It was a really fun day.

Re: Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

A friend painted an oil sketch of our schooner 'Southpaw' as we prepared to leave Winchester Bay, Or, on our maiden voyage. Don't have the ability to post an image of it here, but part of it can be seen on the heading of his website bradvictorbolton.com. Cool guy - lives on his Alberg 35 in Wilmington, at present.
