Re: Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

Thank you, all, for the kind comments!
It is a good thing that I have the paintings and the wonderful memories of life aboard this beautiful old schooner, because I have regretfully reached the decision that it must come to an end. (Health issues, age related)
After thirty years, I am putting her up for sale.
Every time I look at one of tnose paintings, so many fine memories come flooding back, and I get to re-live the adventure. She has been very good to me!

Nitpik, sad to her of your decision to sell your boat, but it sounds like you had a good long run with her. What model Colvin is she?

Cheers,

Steve

Re: Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

Panope - she is a Colvin Doxy, stretched from 38' to 41' LOD, 50' LOA.
(Or, as I usually quip, she is 50' when I am trying to impress someone, and 41' when I see the dockmaster coming!)
....... and you are right, I did have a good long run with her - great boat!

Re: Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

Ive spent 5 years in Asia. I purchased this painting and another several years back, thought they complimented Freeform as well as a reminder of the great asian people that I've been around. Ive just sold Freeform and did contemplate asking if the new owner would mind if i took them with me, but decided they belonged to Freeform.

Here is an artist that does paintings "on demand", she is talented and has won many shows and awards.
She is also my wife.

Ha ha, I hear there are many fine aspiring "artist's" there. The school is a very cool place though, right? I really enjoy watching the youngster's working on boats and seamen classes.

CSY Man, your Admiral's a keeper She obviously is a painter at heart from a review of her works. I'm partial to watercolors myself, and know how tough the field of artists in Florida is to compete amongst ,as I had friends in the past who entered shows.

Please pass my compliments along to her.

Re: Got a painting of your boat? I just got an oil done!!

I'm a disabled vet and due to a combat injury I can no longer work as a commercial diver. I'm an artist which is now my livelihood and focus military themed work but recently began working on a piece for my fathers friend which he commissioned of his 40 footer. Ill post it up when I'm finished.

A composite of a photo of my boat and our dinner in a restaurant in Milano, with the addition of the artist's imagination:

The artist is incarcerated in a hospital for the criminally insane.

I don't know if you are joking or not, but I think the dinosaurs are mearly in poor taste, not criminal

Did you miss the pirate ship and Captain Jack with spyglass on the Coot's mast, as well as the Easter Island figures, one of which is smoking? ... What's poor taste with dinosaurs?

And no, I'm not joking, The artist is a "patient" at the California state hospital in Napa. The typical patient has normal to high intelligence.
