Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
I live in the West Palm Beach area a mile inland. I just laid a third acre of sod yesterday. This is not good for me or my neighbors. A time lapse would be interesting.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
Think I'll start my early hurricane prep today. Miami is a little to close to the projected path.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
I can't recall a hurricane dropping to such a low pressure so quickly. Scary.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
miami is 3 days out, now prep prep prep. hopefully only sideswiped but stiill. sideswiped by a major is intense. hit dead on is tough. hoping for a sideswipe for miami as opposed to a hit. the rest of coast-- watch out and prep prep prep. donot forget about surge..
on the other hand, this sets folks up for the extreme anchoring challenge.. please post pix and success stories. shall we now learn which anchor is best for cat 4-5.
donot take its weakening seriously. weakening over water before a hit just means strengthening..be safe and wary. prep fro cat 7 and be successful
that is downfall. prep for cat 7. scare the thing away. more prep.
it has exchanged its eyeball. therefor e slight weakening pre strengthening.
oops
could be a challenge. is why i have announced the extreme anchor challenge. all anchor outs are mandatorily entered. please state type and length of rode and how ye held.
be safe and please hunker early and well.
this is already a killer storm. 4 dead as of yesterday morning, pre-rapid intensification, in state of vargas venezuela. have heard nothing re colombia or since that posting by my vene friends. this monster rapidly intensified between isla margarita and colombia, pretty much over vargas, so communications are not reliable at present.
be safe and prep prep prep.

YES!!!! Lets do it folks, no guts no glory.
May I suggest leaving a SPOT tracker on board and providing a link so we can all watch the carnage......uh I mean success, yes that's it, success of ones favorite anchoring system

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
Six day Miami forecast looks good....storm weakened a bit already. We're landing there the morning of the 7th enroute to the BVIs......hoping Mathew will be long gone.

YESSSSSSS
tracking device for more than one reason--main reason being helping insurance find your boat, and you finding your dog. oops did i say tha tout loud??? but seriously,a tracking device will help until water ...... uuhhhhh..then it will stop but there wil be coordinates to help insurance and yourself find the remains for burial or restoration. just think--you can now re~do interior differently and the way you thought but didnt want to spend the dough. removal is almost guaranteed with this. mebbe find boat in a treee 50 miles downwind. seriously.
as all must have second reason to be, the entertainment value , alone, makes the purchase of said tracking device worth while.
1 beer for each dragging boat. should be drunk by......

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
I almost want to buy a 25' junker and throw a %$#*@! anchor (c'mon you didn't really think I was going to say which brand did you ) on it and see what happens. Knowing my luck though it would damage somebody else's property and I'd be held liable. Any legal gurus have insight on this one?

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
Seems Euro model has track further east than GFS, hope its true. Windytv allows you to toggle between GFS and Euro to compare.

Re: Good Grief, Cat. 5 Hurricane
i think it wont be as far east as hoped.. i am pulling for it to thread that needle between haiti and jamaica before showering cleanliness onto guantanamo and then onward to unknown bullseye of choice for momma nature--could center punch miami or sideswipe--i hope sideswipe. either way miami will clean up nice..for a minuet.
it will still crawl up the coast giving all a good opportunity to enter the anchor challenge.
