Going Up the Mast without a Halyard

I saw neat mast step system, for goin up the mast, that doesn't need a halyard to hoist it. Sure would be nice to use if going up a mast, and not knowing what condition the halyard and hardware is in!

Interesting but too expensive for me and takes too much space when not in use.

Don't have a problem with the system, but way to scary to climb a mast without a good known halyard. This was the position we were in when we first bought AL. Halyards slightly green and of a unknown age. Both spinnaker and topping lift were replaced before any explorations up the mast.
